John Kiely is to be appointed the new Limerick senior hurling manager at a meeting of the County Board on Tuesday.
Kiely guided the county to All-Ireland Under-21 glory last year and he has emerged as the favourite to succeed TJ Ryan as manager of senior team.
Shane O'Neill had also been in the frame to take over from Ryan but the selection panel have recommended Kiely and his appointment is likely to be ratified by the Limerick County Board on Tuesday.
"The five man committee consisting of Joe McKenna, Oliver Mann, Bernard Duggan, Brendan O Connor and Mike O Riordan ratified at the August County Committee to return to with the next Limerick Senior Hurling Management team wish to bring forward for ratification at Management tomorrow evening John Kiely – Manager, Paul Kinnerk – Coach, Joe O Connor S & C Coach and Jimmy Quilty – selector with one more selector to be appointed," a statement read.
