Kildare hammer dismal Meath

Kildare produced a dominant first half display to cruise past Meath 2-16 to 0-13 in their Leinster SFC semi-final in Tullamore.

Cathal McNally scored a goal and three points in the opening 20 minutes to give the Lilywhites control of the contest against a Meath side who were desperately disappointing in the first period.

The game was as good as over at the break as Cian O'Neill's charges led by nine points as the Royals only managed a miserable four points.

Although Meath rallied after the restart they never threatened to get back into the game.

Kildare's Daniel Flynn impressed with a personal tally of 1-04, which included a late goal, while Kevin Feely caught the eye in midfield notching 0-05.

Kildare will now face Westmeath or Dublin in the Leinster decider on July 16th, their first provincial final since going down to Dublin by three points in 2009.

For Meath however, a lot of soul-searching will take place as they drop back into the qualifiers.
