Jurgen Klopp has refused to be drawn on reports linking Liverpool with a summer move for Mario Gotze.
The German international has just over a year to run on his contract at Bayern Munich and it has been suggested that he will look to move away from the Allianz Arena at the end of the season.
Liverpool are the frontrunners to sign the player, who made his senior debut at Borussia Dortmund under Klopp, but the Reds manager has brushed off questions about the possibility of landing the attacker.
"We can talk about (Joel) Matip or something else, but not Mario," Klopp told German media.
"I am happy that he put in a good performance yesterday. But there is nothing to add from my side.
"He’s a player with extraordinary abilities and wants to return to full fitness after four months on the sidelines."
Gotze has made just 12 appearances this season and he was quick to play down reports about his future after returning for the national side.
“We should stay in the present,” he said. “I am happy to play again and what comes will come.
“The most important thing is to be playing again. I’ve really missed it over the past few months.”
