Klopp: We have no excuses

Jurgen Klopp has warned his Liverpool players they cannot use fatigue as an excuse when they play Swansea on Saturday.

The last time the two sides met Klopp was forced to field a weakened team as the fixture fell in between both Europa League semi-final legs against Villarreal.

Liverpool do not have European football to contend with this season and they have made a strong start to the campaign with Saturday's match coming on the back of a 5-1 defeat of Hull.

Swansea, meanwhile, have won just one of their six Premier League matches and Klopp is targeting another victory.

“We had to make a lot of changes against Swansea last season. In that moment it was too much for us," Klopp told his pre-match press conference.

"Now we have absolutely no excuses. We have time to recover, we have time to train and prepare. We try to show that every week.

“In this part of the season you create a base for the rest of the season. We have a job to do. We need to stay fit and have luck.

“It’s been a good start but we have to build on it.”

On Saturday's opponents, Klopp added: "We will be prepared for this game. We know about the quality of Swansea.

"They have played better than having four points looks like. They have different options with their style of play.

"We are still in development and we have to improve on technical things as a team. In this part of the season you create a base for the rest of the season."
