Koeman confirms Lookman interest

Ronald Koeman says Everton hope to complete the £10m signing of teenage Charlton forward Ademola Lookman in January.

Lookman, who has also been linked with Crystal Palace, scored his seventh goal of the season in Charlton's 1-0 win at MK Dons on St Stephen's Day.

"There is interest for the boy, yes," Koeman said on Wednesday ahead of the Toffees' visit to the KCOM Stadium on Friday to take on Hull City.

"Of course we are working on some deals for January. We have certain interest in some players but we have to keep that inside the club.

"Some of the names you read in the papers are correct, though most of the time the speculation is bullshit. We would like to use the transfer window to make the team stronger."

Everton Director of Football Steve Walsh is keen to continue his policy of bringing in promising young players, following the £1.5m signing of teenage striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Sheffield United in August.

Everton are also likely to make a £20m bid for Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, and also try to bring in his Old Trafford team-mate Memphis Depay in January.

Mason Holgate and Tom Davies may feature against bottom club Hull as Koeman tries to navigate through three Premier League games in eight days.

"We are better off than some, because we get a day extra rest before playing again on January 2," he said.

"But it is a tough period, you can’t do it with 11 players."
