Everton manager Ronald Koeman says Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku has told him he wants to stay at Goodison Park.
The 23-year-old, who scored 25 goals for the Toffees last season, informed the club in May that he wanted to leave amid rumours linking him with a return to his former club Chelsea .
Lukaku did not feature in Everton's Premier League opener at home to Tottenham last week following a heel injury, but came off the bench in Saturday's 2-1 win at West Brom.
And Koeman said after the match at the Hawthorns that the £28m striker has withdrawn his transfer request and reassured him of his commitment to the Merseyside club.
"He spoke to me yesterday morning that he made a decision by himself to stay at least one more season at Everton. That was great news for everybody," he said.
"It's possible [he may sign a contract extension]."
Koeman said Lukaku will start the Premier League match against Stoke City at Goodison Park next Saturday, after proving his fitness in his 52 minutes on the pitch at West Brom.
"I'm not doubting the player's qualities. He was ten days out with an injury," the Dutchman continued.
“He did yesterday his second session, but I'm not so stupid to put him on the bench next week! There's no question."
