Everton boss Ronald Koeman admitted Manchester City are the best side he has faced as a manager following his team’s 1-1 draw at the Etihad.
Two penalty saves from Maarten Stekelenburg helped his side to a point after Romelu Lukaku opened the scoring in the 65th minute, before substitution Nolito cancelled out the opener with a precise header late-on.
Koeman - who has managed Valencia and Ajax, also suggested that the Blues have the best attacking players in the Premier League.
“They played fantastic football. They are the best team in my managerial career that I’ve played against,” the Dutchman said.
“Really high, top pressing, high tempo…we make some mistakes because the pressing was so high.
“If you look to the football, to the offensive style, the movement, the quality of the offensive players, they are in my opinion the best team in the Premier League.
“I’m pleased with a point and we didn’t deserve more, I know. Maybe we didn’t deserve one when you count the chances and the opportunities, two missed penalties. But football is unpredictable.”
The former Barcelona player also suggested that Stekelenburg’s performance might have been his best to date.
“Maybe the goalkeeper played his best game ever,” he said.
“We know he is a good goalkeeper but saving two penalties and maybe two more shots from De Bruyne…you need that luck to get a good result.”
