Kompany fit for Cup final

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany will be fit for Sunday's Capital One Cup final against Liverpool.

Kompany has missed a number of games this season due to a persistent calf injury but returned to the team for City's 3-1 defeat of Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Belgium international was one of three players to training away from the rest of the squad but manager Manuel Pellegrini is confident he will be able to call on the defender along with Bacary Sagna and Raheem Sterling.

"They are recovering from the last game that they played," Pellegrini said.

"For different reasons, the recovery of the players that played the complete game is not the same for all of them. They have different ways of recovering but I hope the three of them will be fit for Sunday."

Pellegrini believes victory in Sunday's final would give them the push they need in their quest to regain the Premier League title.

"To win in February, one title, that gives you a lot of trust to try to continue fighting in the other competitions," Pellegrini added.

"After we finish on Sunday we have to return to the Premier League, we have another 36 points to fight for. We are six points behind the leaders but we will continue fighting until the end and we are not giving up. It gives you a lot of trust if you win this title."
