Kompany to miss Monaco tie

Vincent Kompany will miss Manchester City's Champions League last-16 first-leg tie against Monaco.

Kompany did not feature in City's goalless draw with Huddersfield in the FA Cup fifth-round tie on Saturday after limping out of training on Thursday.

The club captain has made just six appearances for City this season due to injuries but manager Pep Guardiola was quick to reassure fans that his latest injury was 'not a big issue'.

While he will miss the visit of AS Monaco to the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, Kompany is expected to be available for the replay against Huddersfield on February 28.

"Vincent Kompany is not ready for tomorrow. I think it's won't be longer. The Huddersfield game he will be ready," Guardiola told his pre-match press conference.

More games than ever before! eir Sport will show 23 live games from the Allianz Leagues, including five triple headers. The eir Sport pack is free to eir residential broadband customers.
