Donegal manager Rory Gallagher has received a massive boost with the news that Karl Lacey and Frank McGlynn will return to the senior football panel for 2017.
Following the defeat to Dublin in the All-Ireland quarter-finals, Colm McFadden and Eamon McGee called time on their inter-county careers, but Lacey and McGlynn have decided to commit to another season with the Tir Chonaill men.
“They’re two top-quality players,” Gallagher told Donegal Sport Hub.
“They’re two guys who now have kids and have given their all for Donegal so they don’t owe us anything.
“They want to contribute their best for Donegal and they want to play for Donegal, which says a lot about them, that they are willing to put their bodies and reputations on the line.
“They bring serious leadership to us and it will give everyone a lift to have them back with us again. It was refreshing news to hear that they wanted to give the commitment again.”
