Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana will miss England's World Cup matches against Malta and Slovenia with a groin injury.
Lallana limped off after just 23 minutes ofLiverpool's 2-1 Premier League win over Swansea, and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says the 26-year-old will not be available for England's 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Malta at Wembley on Saturday, and the trip to Ljubljana three days later.
Klopp says Dejan Lovren also suffered a groin injury against Swansea, and will miss Croatia's World Cup qualifiers against Kosovo and Finland.
"Lallana it's a groin problem and Lovren as well," Klopp told Sky Sports.
"They both cannot go with the national team. We will see exactly how long, but hopefully they can use the time to recover."
Lallana, who was replaced by fellow England team-mate Daniel Sturridge at the Liberty Stadium, previously withdrew from the England squad to face Lithuania and Italy last March with a similar injury.
Liverpool face Manchester United at Anfield in their next fixture after the international break on 17 October, and Klopp expects Lovren in particular to be fit for the Premier League clash against their North West rivals.
"Dejan [was injured] in one of the last moments—groin, hopefully not that serious. Hopefully 15 days are enough," the German said.
