Riyad Mahrez scored twice, as Leicester City beat Club Brugge 3-0 in the first-ever Champions League tie.
Marc Albrighton scored with the Foxes' first shot of the match at the Jan Breydel Stadium, after the Brugge defence failed to clear a Luis Hernandez long throw.
Algerian playmaker Mahrez made it 2-0 just before the half-hour mark with an inch-perfect free-kick past goalkeeper Ludovic Butelle, following a Simons foul on Jamie Vardy on the edge of the area.
And Mahrez completed a golden night for the champions of England with a penalty on 60 minutes, after Butelle had hauled down the ever-dangerous Vardy in the box following a Leicester counter-attack.
The Foxes are next in European action in back-to-back home matches against FC Porto on 27 September and Danish champions FC Copenhagen on 18 October. The two sides drew 1-1 in tonight's other Group G match at the Estadio do Dragao.
Sergio Aguero netted his second hat-trick of the season as Manchester City thrashed Borussia Monchengladbach 4-0 in their Champions League Group C opener.
The Argentine prodded home Aleksandar Kolarov's cross on eight minutes for the opener, then made it 2-0 on 28 minutes from the penalty spot following a foul in the box on Ilkay Gundogan.
Aguero completed his hat-trick on 77 minutes, rounding Monchengladbach goalkeeper Jan Sommer from Raheem Sterling's pass, before substitute Kelechi Iheanacho completed the scoring in injury-time.
