US Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III has included Rickie Fowler, JB Holmes and Matt Kuchar in his team for this month's competition at Hazeltine.
Love has one wildcard still to pick but will wait until after the season-ending Tour Championship before naming his final selection with two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson left to sweat over his fate.
While Watson must wait to discover if he will be in the team to face Europe, Fowler, Kuchar and Holmes can turn their attentions to the competition, which will run from September 30 to October 2.
Fowler has competed in two Ryder Cups before but has failed to win any of his eight matches, while Kuchar will be competing in his fourth Ryder Cup. Holmes was a member of the 2008-winning team in his only Ryder Cup appearance to date.
Love must now decide who to include as the final member of his team and the captain has revealed that he will be looking at players who did not qualify for the Tour Championship.
"If my team needed a quarterback and I drafted a running back I'd be in big trouble. We looked at a lot of factors making the picks to make sure they fit in and it is not necessarily the guy with the best putting stats or the longest driver," he said.
"The guys on our list are in and out of Tour Championship. I am not limiting myself.
"I would say players playing in the Tour Championship need to think about winning the Tour Championship and not to think about Ryder Cup points. It is not a scoring contest for who gets the pick.
"We've got a strategy and we are going to work on that in the next two weeks and announce what best fits our team, not who shoots the best score in that tournament.
"I've had to make the tough decisions before. The captain's job is to make tough decisions."
