Man City and Celtic draw

19-year-old Patrick Roberts netted against his parent club, as Scottish champions Celtic drew 1-1 with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Neither side had anything to play for but pride, with City assured of second place in Group C behind winners Barcelona, and the Bhoys guaranteed to finish bottom after picking up just two points from their opening five matches.

But Roberts, who joined the Bhoys from City on an 18-month loan in January, used the occasion to show his parent club a glimpse of his talents with a fine fifth-minute opener.

And an impressive goal it was, an emphatic finish beyond City goalkeeper Willy Caballero following a jinking run beyond Gael Clichy down the right channel.

But City levelled just three minutes later, as Kelechi Iheanacho slammed the ball beyond Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon from Nolito's pass, for his 13th goal in 18 starts for the club.

Nolito had a goal ruled out for offside after the break, while Bhoys' substitute Gary Mackay-Steven forced Caballero into a sharp save at his near post on 83 minutes, but that was as good as it got in a pedestrian second half at the Etihad.

City will play a group winner in the last 16, so will face either Napoli, Atletico Madrid, Monaco, one of Borussia Dortmund or Real Madrid and one of Juventus or Sevilla in Monday's Champions League draw.

Arda Turan netted a 17-minute second-half hat-trick, as Barcelona thrashed Borussia Monchengladbach 4-0 at Camp Nou in the group's other match.

The Turkey captain set up the opener for Lionel Messi on 16 minutes, then struck three goals of his own as Barca equalled the tournament record of 20 goals in a Champions League group campaign.
