Man Utd turn down WBA Schneiderlin bid

Jose Mourinho says Manchester United have turned down West Brom's £13m bid for out-of-favour midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

The Red Devils' manager confirmed last week that the France international, who joined United from Southampton in a £25m deal in July 2015, will be allowed to leave during the January transfer window.

However, the Portuguese insists Schneiderlin, who has played just 11 minutes of Premier League football this season, will not be allowed to leave on the cheap, with Everton also believed to keen on signing the 27-year-old.

"Until this moment we have not received one single offer that we are going to accept," Mourinho told a news conference ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Middlesbrough at Old Trafford.

"I don’t want to sell players. The club and the board is totally with me, but as I told before, if a player is not having lots of minutes and really wants to leave, we have no right to stop him leaving if the conditions are our conditions."

Wayne Rooney will miss the match against Boro following a knock, while Luke Shaw is back in training but not match-fit.

"Luke Shaw is training without any problem, but I don't think he's ready to start. Rooney is still injured," he told MUTV.

Mourinho says goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is the only player who will be allowed out on loan this January.

Sunderland, Aston Villa and Stoke City all hope to sign the 23-year-old, with the Black Cats in particular keen to bring in cover for England U-21 goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who has been ruled out for up to two months with a knee injury.

"We have a young goalkeeper in Joel, a goalkeeper that played many minutes in the last six months and for the development of both, Joel played six months in the Portuguese Premier League and now it's time for Sam to play six months, and that's the only loan move we are going to do," he said.
