Mane eases injury fears

Saido Mane has dismissed over his fitness by returning to training with Liverpool.

There were fears that Mane had suffered a knee injury when he was substituted in the 66th minute of Senegal's 2-0 defeat of Namibia on Saturday.

Manager Jurgen Klopp contacted the striker on Sunday to get an update on his fitness and he was assured that he is 100 per cent fit for this weekend's Premier League visit of Leicester.

Mane returned to training at Melwood on Monday as he prepares to make his Anfield debut.

Liverpool will finally play in front of their home fans this weekend after delaying their seasonal debut at Anfield due to the redevelopment work on the main stand.

Klopp will be hoping to have his strongest line-up available to him as the Reds welcome the reigning Premier League champions and Lucas Leiva believes there is plenty of strength in depth within the squad.

"I think it's clear that we have very good players in every single position - and not just one good player, I would say we have two teams you could put out to get you results," he told liverpoolfc.com.

"Of course the Premier League is very difficult but I think the squad we have, with the new players who have made us stronger - hopefully it's going to be a very good season for the club.

Liverpool have picked up four points from their opening three games - they defeated Arsenal and drew with Tottenham - and Lucas is anxious to get more points on the board.

"I think it's an okay beginning. We've played three games away from home in a row, and against two teams who will challenge for the top four and the title (Arsenal and Tottenham), so it's not bad," he said.

"But we need to get points and win games in a row as soon as possible because we want to be higher in the table."
