Anthony Martial says his second season at Manchester United has been "truly annoying", but the Frenchman insists he will come through the "test".
The 21-year-old shone in his first campaign at Old Trafford, following his £36m move from Monaco, scoring 17 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions.
However, the French striker has started just seven of United's 16 Premier League games this season, and admits that he is not enjoying playing second fiddle to Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic:
"It’s annoying to be on the bench. It’s truly annoying but it’s a test you have to overcome and that’s how you progress," he told SFR Sport:
"It’s difficult because all you want is to be able to help the team and, when you’re on the bench, you can’t. But these are choices and you have to accept it."
"People expect a lot of me but sometimes they forget I’m still young.
"Everyone can think what they want. It won’t change anything."
In other United news, manager Jose Mourinho says defender Eric Bailly will not need to undergo surgery on his latest knee injury.
The 23-year-old suffered the injury against Crystal Palace on Wednesday during his first start for United in almost two months after he damaged ligaments in his right knee during the 4-0 defeat at Chelsea on 23 October.
"I don't know how long [but] no surgery," Mourinho said before United's visit to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
"By the movement on the pitch we thought meniscus but no. It's a question to see the evolution."
