McEnaney appointed Wexford manager

Seamus McEnaney has been named as the new manager of the Wexford senior footballers.

The former Monaghan and Meath manager succeeds David Power who stepped down after two years at the helm.

Wexford were relegated to Division 4 of the Allianz Football League in 2015 and failed to earn promotion at the first time of asking, while they were beaten by Kildare in the Leinster SFC quarter-finals. Their summer was brought to an end by Fermanagh in the qualifiers.

McEnaney will be looking to guide the Model County back to Division 3 before turning his attention to the Championship with Carlow first up for his team. The winners will go on to face reigning All-Ireland champions Dublin.

Conor McGregor will fight Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight belt at UFC 205 in New York on November 12 live on the eir Sport pack. The eir Sport pack is free to all eir broadband customers. To learn more about setting sport free visit www.eir.ie/sport .
