Fergus McFadden has been cited for his challenge on Damien Hoyland during Leinster's Guinness PRO12 win over Edinburgh on Friday night.
McFadden avoided punishment for his high tackle on the Scottish winger in the 38th minute of Leinster's 30-23 win at the RDS.
However, the independent citing commissioner has decided the incident warrants further investigation with the winger set to face a disciplinary hearing later this week.
Meanwhile, Edinburgh centre Philip Burleigh has also been cited for alleged contact with the eye area of an opponent in the 13th minute of the first half of the match.
