McGleenan named Cavan manager

Former Tyrone footballer Mattie McGleenan has been named as the new Cavan senior football manager.

Jack Sheedy and Seamus McEnaney had also been in the running to succeed Terry Hyland as manager of Cavan but McGleenan's appointment was ratified by the Cavan County Board on Monday night.

McGleenan, who has guided Scotstown to two straight Monaghan county club titles, has yet to name his backroom team.

Hyland stepped down following the All-Ireland SFC qualifier defeat to Derry.
