McGregor set to meet Dos Anjos

Conor McGregor is reportedly set to fight Rafael dos Anjos for the UFC lightweight title on March 5.

It has been reported that the bout will take place in Las Vegas, either at the MGM Grand or Mandalay Bay, with confirmation expected from the UFC over the weekend.

McGregor was crowned UFC featherweight champion last month when he defeated Jose Aldo at UFC 194, securing a 13-second KO victory at the MGM Grand.

A rematch against Aldo or a featherweight defence against Frankie Edgar were both options for the Irishman but he looks set to step up a weight division by fighting Dos Anjos. A win for McGregor would see him become just the third man to hold UFC titles in two different divisions and the first to hold two UFC titles at the same time.

UFC 197 could also feature Holly Holm against Miesha Tate for the women's bantamweight title.

Holm shocked Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 and with a rematch yet to be arranged it appears likely that she will take on Tate at UFC 197.
