McIlroy with Fowler and Willett

Northern Irishman joined by home star and Masters champion

Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler and Danny Willett have been grouped together for the opening two rounds of the US Open.

McIlroy, the 2011 winner of the tournament, will tee off at 20:24 (13:24 British and Irish time) on the first day at Oakmont, alongside American star Fowler and Masters champion Willett.

Jordan Spieth opens his defence of the US title in a group with Open Championship victor Zach Johnson and rising star Bryson DeChambeau.

Patrick Reed and Matt Kuchar will play alongside two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson in all-American trio.

Louis Oosthuizen, joint runner-up in 2015, is joined by an Australian pairing in Adam Scott and the current world number one, Jason Day.

McIlroy's fellow Northern Irishman, Graeme McDowell, will face the opening two rounds in Pittsburgh with the United States' Webb Simpson and Geoff Ogilvy of Australia.
