Rory McIlroy has withdrawn from next week's Dubai Desert Classic as he continues his recover from a rib injury.
McIlroy picked up the injury during the BMW SA Open but he managed to play on through the pain, eventually losing to England's Graeme Storm in a play-off.
He underwent an MRI scan upon his arrival in Dubai which revealed a stress fracture of a rib, forcing him to miss last week's Abu Dhabi Championship.
The four-time major winner had hoped to be fit for the Dubai Desert Classic but he has informed organisers that he will not be fit to compete in the event.
"Rory McIlroy has confirmed he will not play next week's @OmegaDDC as he continues to recover from a rib injury," the European Tour confirmed.
