Michael McKillop has claimed Ireland's second gold medal of the Paralympics after winning a thrilling 1500m final in Rio.
The Antrim man held off the challenge of Canada's Liam Stanley to successfully defend the title he won in London four years ago, his fourth Paralympics gold medal in total.
Algeria's Madjid Djemai set the pace early on with McKillop, who holds the world record in the event, content to stay tucked in behind during the opening exchanges.
Stanley and Morocco's Hafid Aharak were also on McKillop's tail and when the Irish athlete took up the running not long into the penultimate lap, it was Stanley who was able to stay in touch with him, Djemai starting to feel the pace.
With 200m left McKillop kicked for home and burnt off the challenge of Stanley, taking the finishing tape in a time of 4:12.11.
Stanley followed home in second place four seconds behind the winner with Djemai hanging on for bronze; Aharak had to make do with fourth position.
