Melbourne Victory boss Kevin Muscat says there is "no chance" the Australian A-League side will sign former England captain Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard, 36, has been linked with a host of clubs following his exit from MLS side LA Galaxy last week, as well as the vacant managerial position at League One side Milton Keynes Dons.
But former Crystal Palace and Millwall defender Muscat says Melbourne Victory will not be signing the Liverpool legend, who won the Champions League, the Uefa Cup, two FA Cups and three League Cups at Anfield.
"At this stage, no," Muscat told Australian radio station SEN
"We've been contacted in relation to a few players, but any discussions with those players will remain confidential obviously.
"But at this stage there's no chance, no."
Gerrard, who is currently taking his Uefa A coaching licence, would welcome an Academy coaching role at Anfield combined with a similar role with the England senior squad.
Gerrard's former Liverpool team-mate Jamie Carragher believes he turned down the manager's job at Milton Keynes because he prefers to get more coaching experience before starting his managerial career.
"It maybe came a bit too early, if it was six months or 12 months down the line then maybe there would have been a good chance of it happening," Carragher told Sky Sports.
"I don't think he is fully ready, he's still got to get coaching badges, that's not to say he couldn't do the job, but I think he maybe wants to get more experience."
