Manchester City have completed the £52m signing of defender Benjamin Mendy from AS Monaco.
The 23-year-old France left-back has signed a five-year deal with the Premier League club, and becomes City's fifth major signing of the summer, following £45m England international Kyle Walker, £43m Portugal midfielder Bernardo Silva, £35mBrazilian keeper Ederson Moraes and £26.5m Real Madrid defender Danilo into the Etihad Stadium.
Mendy, who will wear the No 22 shirt, will meet up with his new teammates in Los Angeles ahead of City's second pre-season tour game against Real Madrid on Wednesday.
"I am absolutely delighted to be joining Manchester City," Mendy told City's official website.
"They are one of Europe's leading clubs and in Pep Guardiola they have a manager committed to playing attacking football.
"I am sure that over the next few years we will be successful."
City’s Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain described Mendy, who joined Monaco from Marseille last summer, as "one of the world's best full-backs".
Mendy began his career with Le Havre, where he played more than 50 league games, before joining Marseille in 2013.
He made 101 appearances in three seasons for the Stade Velodrome club, before signing a five-year contract with Monaco last summer.
Mendy won the French championship and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in his only season with Monaco.
"Benjamin has all the qualities we are looking for in a full-back," the Spaniard said.
"For such a young player, he has a wealth of top-level experience.
"He is undoubtedly one of the world’s best full-backs, our number one target in this position. We are all delighted to have him here at Manchester City.
"I'm sure he will prove a fantastic addition to the squad."
