USA swimmer Michael Phelps will retire after Rio 2016 and has said he will not compete in another Olympics.
Having originally retired after London 2012, Phelps performed a u-turn and has so far added another four gold medals with victories in the 200m butterfly final and the men's 200 individual medley, bringing his tally to an impressive 22 Olympic gold medals.
Speaking after the winning silver in the 100m Butterfly, Phelps said:
"I'm not going four more years and I'm standing by that.
"I've been able to do everything I've ever put my mind to in the sport. I'm happy with how things finished.
"I swore in London I wasn't coming back and this is final. Were the papers here, I'd sign them tomorrow."
Meanwhile Phelps's team-mate Ryan Lochte feels that his team-mate will take part in Tokyo 2020.
"I guarantee he will be there,'' he told NBC. "I think so. I really think so. So Michael, I'll see you in Tokyo."
