Minding and Harzand to clash in Champion

The Investec Oaks and Derby winners Minding and Harzand are to meet for the first time in Saturday's Qipco Irish Champion Stakes on Saturday.

Harzand provided Dermot Weld with his first winner in the Epsom Classic before following up in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Classic three weeks later and he will bid for a third successive Group 1 after being confirmed for Saturday's feature at Leopardstown. Minding scooped the Oaks the day before Harzand's victory to add to her win in the 1000 Guineas and she will take on colts and older horses for the first time after getting the all clear to run.

As well as Harzand, Weld will saddle Ebediyin but he has opted against running Fascinating Rock.

Aidan O'Brien, meanwhile, has declared King George hero Highland Reel, Found and Sir Isaac Newton, while Prince Of Wales's Stakes winner My Dream Boat will take his chance for Clive Cox.

2014 winner The Grey Gatsby will bid for a second win in the race after standing his ground for Kevin Ryan alongside Hawkbill from Charlie Appleby's yard.

Jim Bolger will be represented by Moonlight Magic with Ken Condon saddling Success Days.

French Derby winner Almanzor and New Bay have been declared by Jean-Claude Rouget and Andre Fabre.

Meanwhile, Idaho tops the nine horses declared for the Ladbrokes St Leger earlier in the afternoon.

Aidan O'Brien is bidding for a fifth win in the Doncaster Classic and Idaho is the hot favourite to land the spoils after his impressive win in the Great Voltigeur Stakes at York last month.

Sword Fighter, winner of the Queen's Vase and the Curragh, and Housesofparliament will also take their chance for the Ballydoyle handler.

John Gosden is also bidding for a fifth win in the race and he has declared Muntahaa, while Richard Hannon will be represented by Ventura Storm.

Harbour Law, Harrison, Ormito and The Tartan Spartan complete the line-up.
