Minding has Matron option

Minding features among the dozen horses still engaged in the Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday.

Aidan O'Brien's six-time Group One winner is expected to take her chance in the Qipco Irish Champion Stakes on the same card but connections have left her in the Matron Stakes as a precaution.

O'Brien also has the option of running Alice Springs and Somehow, while Irish 1000 Guineas heroine Jet Setting has stood her ground for Adrian Keatley.

John Gosden could be represented by Persuasive, while Ashadihan and Hawksmoor are possibles for Kevin Ryan and Hugo Palmer respective.

Coronation Stakes winner Qemah could make the trip to Leopardstown for Jean-Claude Rouget, with Francis Graffard's Volta another possible French runner

Creggs Pipes, Devonshire and Now Or Never complete the entries.

Minding is also one of 17 horses left in the Irish Champion Stakes.

The filly could be joined in the race by stable companions Highland Reel, winner of the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, Breeders' Cup Turf victor Found, US Army Ranger, Sir Isaac Newton and Long Island Sound.

Dual Derby hero Harzand is one of four possibles for Dermot Weld alongside Fascinating Rock, The Steward and Ebediyin, while 2014 winner The Grey Gatsby could bid for a second victory for Kevin Ryan.

Eclipse winner Hawkbill has stood his ground for Charlie Appleby with My Dream Boat a possible for Clive Cox.

Last year's French Derby winner New Bay is an intended runner for Andre Fabre with the French trainer confident his charge will handle conditions at the Foxrock venue.

"New Bay is running in Ireland," said Fabre. "I think it is a nice race to try and win. The distance should suit him and we want to try and win another big race with him.

"He won a Group Three in Deauville in good style last time out and since then he has done really well.

"He had a problem with his foot, then the ground was bottomless on his first start. It will be interesting taking on the three-year-olds.

"The Arc or the Champion Stakes are his options after this race."

French Derby winner Almanzor is included alongside Moonlight Magic and Success Days.
