Jose Mourinho's agent as denied that the former Chelsea boss sent a six-page letter to Manchester United outlining why he would be the ideal choice to take over from Louis van Gaal when the Dutchman leaves Old Trafford.
Jorge Mendes was responding to a report in the Independent on Sunday which alleged that the controversial Portuguese had penned the extensive missive and sent it to the United board of directors.
"It does not occur to anyone that a coach like Jose Mourinho can write letters to clubs offering their services," Mendes wrote on www.gestifute.com.
"It is absolutely ridiculous and totally absurd."
According to the newwspaper report, Mourinho explains how he would be prepared to adapt his style of management to suit the demands of Old Trafford and how he would overhaul the squad.
It is known that Mourinho has long coveted the United job and was even touted as a possible replacement for Sir Alex Ferguson when he retired in 2013.
However, the board opted for David Moyes and then drafted in van Gaal as a replacement for the former Everton man following a disappointing first campaign.
Van Gaal himself is currently under pressure following United's latest defeat, a 1-0 home loss to Southampton which leaves them five points off a Champions League qualification spot.
