Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho insisted his side were the "attacking" team while Liverpool were happy to defend, following their 1-1 draw in the Premier League at Old Trafford.
A late Zlatan Ibrahimovic rescued a point for the Red Devils after James Milner gave the visitors a lead in the 26th minute from the spot, following a Paul Pogba hand-ball.
United, for long periods, struggled to break down a resolute Liverpool defence, and it was only after the introduction of Maroune Fellaini late-on, the hosts looked a danger from a direct approach of play.
"We were the team that attacked and Liverpool were the team that defended. Let's see if the critics are fair. I enjoyed it but I will obviously be disappointed we didn't get the three points," Mourinho told the BBC.
"They were clever. They took their time, they know how to play football and control the emotions of the game. They knew they would be in trouble in the final few minutes.
"Very exciting, even for the non-neutral - for Liverpool fans and our fans they were enthusiastic until the last seconds. I didn't think the game had super quality. We didn't reflect the qualities we have and Liverpool have but it was very emotional, intense, aggressive. We fought until the last second."
The result sees Liverpool seven points off league leaders Chelsea, and face a struggling Swansea City on the 21st of January.
While United will look to get back to winning ways when they travel to Stoke City on the same date.
