Mourinho will not discuss transfer plans

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will not discuss summer transfer plans until the end of the season.

United did not sign any players during the January transfer window but they were active in the market with both Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay leaving Old Trafford for pastures new.

Despite not being involved in the Champions League United brought in Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Eric Bailly last summer and they have been heavily linked with a move for Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann at the end of the season.

It is unclear if finishing outside the top four will have an impact on Mourinho's transfer plans but with the club still involved in four competitions the manager has made it clear he will not discuss potential targets.

“To be speaking about the transfer window when we are on the third of February makes no sense at all. The transfer window opens in the summer and until the summer I have nothing to tell you. The only thing I can repeat is what I told you in the last day of January. I know what I want," Mourinho told his weekly press conference.

"I have worked with my players for about seven months or so. I know them better now than six or seven months ago. As for what I think we need, I'm very realistic. I know what are the impossible targets.

"I don't like my club to participate in impossible deals, it's a waste of time, it's a gift to these impossible players and to their agents to have a club like Manchester United interested in them, it just helps them to improve their own situation but it's not good for us at all. So I'm very realistic.

"I’m very objective, my board knows what I feel are our needs and from now until the summer I will just focus on my players, our competitions, my club, our fans and try to get the best possible results."
