Munster bring in Taute on short-term deal

Munster have signed South African international Jaco Taute on a short-term loan.

Taute, who has made 50 Super Rugby appearances and has represented the Springboks on three occasions, has agreed a four-month loan deal, subject to being granted a valid world permit, to provide Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus with more options in midfield due to a high injury list.

As well as being without Francis Saili and Sammy Arnold, Erasmus will be unable to call on Simon Zebo and Kevin O’Byrne for the immediate future due to injuries sustained in the defeat of Scarlets last weekend.

Zebo fractured a rib in the win at Parc y Scarlets and is expected to be out of action for five weeks, while O'Byrne is unavailable for three months as a result of the elbow injury he suffered in the final minutes of the game.
