Munster confirm triple arrival

Munster have announced the signing of Rhys Marshall, Thomas du Toit and Cathal Sheridan.

Marshall has made 22 Super Rugby appearances for the Chiefs and has agreed a three-year deal to move to Munster with the 23-year-old joining up with the province after the Mitre 10 Cup.

Du Toit, who can play both loose and tight-head, has signed a three-month loan agreement and is expected to arrive at Munster in mid-October, while Sheridan returns to Munster on a short-term deal.

Sheridan made his Munster debut against Edinburgh in February 2013 and went on to make 35 appearances for the province. He returns on a three-month contract.

"In certain positions we had to look at our short-term and long-term options in making sure we had adequate cover. We are about to head into a fully loaded schedule across Europe and the PRO12 and needed to build on our depth in a few key areas so these short term contracts will help in that regard," director of rugby Rassie Erasmus said.

"Additionally with injuries to Mike Sherry and Kevin O'Byrne, Rhys Marshall will help in the immediate future and looking beyond that he is a talented long-term prospect for such a pivotal position within our squad.”

Conor McGregor will fight Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight belt at UFC 205 in New York on November 12 live on the eir Sport pack. The eir Sport pack is free to all eir broadband customers. To learn more about setting sport free visit www.eir.ie/sport .
