Munster have made it back-to-back wins in Wales for the first time since 2014, overcoming Newport Gwent Dragons 20-16 in what was a battle throughout.
A second half try from Cian Bohame proved pivotal for the Irish side, despite Anthony Foley’s team failing to make the most of their territorial advantage in the first half.
The Dragons played their way back into the tie after scores from Angus O’Brien reduced the deficit before Tyler Bleyendaal converted a penalty and a conversion followed by fortunate try from Bohame in the 56th minute to hand Munster three points.
Munster will host Edinburgh on the 24th of September while the Dragons will look to bounce back against Irish side Connacht on the 4th of November.
Connacht’s Pro12 tie with Zebre in Parma was called off at half-time due to a thunderstorm.
Leo Cullen’s side were trailing 22-10 before both sides were forced to stay in the dressing rooms for over an hour, before officials made the call to postpone the tie.
The reigning champions, although playing under their usual standard, scored a try when Tiernan O’Halloran drove over the line.
No decision has been made on when the game will be replayed.
