Murray to make first start

Conor Murray will make his first start of the season when Munster face Edinburgh at Irish Independent Park on Friday.

Murray returned from a lengthy injury when he was introduced from the bench in the bonus-point win away to Zebre last weekend and after coming through the game without any issues he has been named at scrum-half, joining JJ Hanrahan in the half-backs for the visit of Edinburgh.

There are 11 changes to the side that defeated Zebre as head coach Johann van Graan welcomes back a number of internationals.

Mike Haley is retained at full-back as Andrew Conway and Keith Earls come in to start on the wing. Chris Farrell makes his first start of the season alongside Rory Scannell in midfield.

There is a new front row with Dave Kilcoyne, Niall Scannell and John Ryan all starting, while Tadhg Beirne joines Billy Holland in the second row.

Captain Peter O'Mahony makes his return to the back row alongside Chris Cloete and Arno Botha.

Munster (XV v Edinburgh): M Haley; A Conway, C Farrell, R Scannell, K Earls; JJ Hanrahan, C Murray; D Kilcoyne, N Scannell, J Ryan; T Beirne, B Holland; P O’Mahony, C Cloete, A Botha.

Replacements: K O’Byrne, J Loughman, C Parker, F Wycherley, G Coombes, D Williams, T Bleyendaal, S Arnold.
