Nadal out of Wimbledon


Rafael Nadal will miss this year's Wimbledon because of a wrist injury.

Nadal was forced to withdraw from the French Open in round three after struggling with the injury and subsequently pulled out of the Aegon Championships at Queen's Club

The 30-year-old had hoped to make his return at the All England Club at the end of the month, but he will not be fit in time to bid for a third Wimbledon title.

"I’m sad to announce that after talking to my doctors, and receiving the results of my last medical revision, I won’t be able to play at Wimbledon this year," the 14-time grand slam winner announced.

"As you can all imagine, it’s a very tough decision, but the injury I suffered at Roland Garros needs time to heal. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to join in the pre-tournament event #TheBoodles at ?#?Stokepark? that I attended in previous years.

"Thank you all for your support, especially my fans. Your kind messages mean so much to me."
