New sponsor for Gold Cup

Festival organisers were forced to look for a new backer of the blue riband after it emerged that Betfred would no longer be able to sponsor the race under the Authorised Betting Partner scheme.

Timico has signed a four-year agreement to sponsor the Gold Cup with the company adding a further £25,000 to the prize fund, which means the 2016 renewal will be worth £575,000.

"We're thrilled to have been chosen as the new sponsors of the Cheltenham Gold Cup," Timico CEO Tim Radford said.
