No recall for Grealish

Jack Grealish has once again been left out of Aston Villa's matchday squad.

Grealish has been forced to train with the Under-21s as punishment for his actions in the wake of the 4-0 defeat at Everton on November 21 when was pictured parting with friends just a few hours after the loss at Goodison Park.

He was left out of the squad for last weekend's home defeat to Watford and manager Remi Garde has decided not to recall him for Saturday's trip to Southampton.

"Jack has continued to train with the under-21 squad and won't be included in the squad for Southampton," Garde told his pre-match press conference.

Garde was coy about when the 20-year-old might return to the squad, adding: "I have a date in mind for when I will bring him back but that will remain private."

The 3-2 defeat to Watford left Villa rooted to the bottom of the table, seven points from safety, and Garde has called for 100% focus ahead of the trip to St Mary's.

"We know that we have to win games. We didn’t win the last one. It was a disappointment," Garde stated. "We should have got a better result. We made too many mistakes and conceded too many goals.

"We are in a big competition and have a tough job to do. To achieve what we want to do we have to be 100% focused."
