Noble backs Carroll for Euro 2016

Roy Hodgson names England's Euro squad on 12 May

West Ham captain Mark Noble says England manager Roy Hodgson should consider selecting Andy Carroll for this summer's European Championship finals.

Carroll netted a nine minute 50 second hat-trick on his first Premier League start for three months as West Ham drew 3-3 with Arsenal at Upton Park.

And Noble says the former Newcastle striker, 27, who last played for England in October 2012, would "100% provide something different" for national team boss Hodgson in France.

"He’s had a few injuries and he takes a lot of stick. He gets those injuries because he puts his body on the line for the team and you can’t knock a player who does that," said Noble.

"When he’s fit and raring to go he’s unplayable at times and he showed that against Arsenal."

Noble, 28, hasn't given up hope of a place on the Eurostar to France in June himself following the knee injury to Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson.

Henderson has been ruled out for six to eight weeks.after damaging ligaments in Thursday's Europa League quarter-final 1-1 draw at Borussia Dortmund, with England's first Euro 2016 game against Russia taking place on 11 June.

"I’d love to go but it’s completely out of my hands," Noble said.

"It would be fair to say I’m playing the best football in my career so far but we’ll see."
