O'Brien linked with London Irish

Sean O'Brien is set to join London Irish after the Rugby World Cup in Japan, according to reports.

O'Brien's contract with the IRFU and Leinster runs until this year's World Cup and it has been reported by RugbyPass that he has agreed a deal that will see him join Declan Kidney's London Irish.

With O'Brien se to turn 32 later this month the IRFU are reluctant to extend his centralised contract due to his age and history of injuries, while London Irish are understood to have offered him a three-year deal worth more than €400,000 per season.

London Irish are currently top of the Championship and are looking to strengthen in a number of areas ahead of their return to the Premiership - Nick Phipps, Allan Dell and Curtis Rona have all signed for the club, while former Ireland international Paddy Jackson has been linked with the English side.

Despite his impending move to London Irish, O'Brien will remain part of Joe Schmidt's plans for the World Cup.
