Sean O'Brien is in danger of missing the remainder of Ireland's RBS 6 Nations campaign as a result of the injury he picked up in the defeat to France.
O'Brien returned to the Ireland team for the trip to Paris but the Leinster flanker was forced off just 20 minutes into the 10-9 defeat after suffering a grade two hamstring tear.
He will definitely miss the game against England on February 27 and there is a chance he could be ruled out for the remainder of the tournament.
Dave Kearney, meanwhile, is also a doubt for the England game due to an AC joint injury.
"Unfortunately Seán O’Brien has a Grade two tear and will be unavailable. We’ll see how he is beyond that. Dave Kearney has a shoulder and neck [injury] and he’s also likely to miss the England game," head coach Joe Schmidt commented.
Johnny Sexton was forced off in the latter stages with a neck injury but the fly-half is recovering well and will be monitored by the medical team over the coming days.
"It’s always frustrating when external pundits start making medical diagnosis from something that they see or think happens. We’ve had Johnny totally checked out and he is very comfortable today," Schmidt said of Sexton's injury.
It was revealed after the game that Jared Payne had played on despite picking up a hamstring injury in the first half and he will be monitored to determine whether or not he will be available for the trip to Twickenham.
“Jared said that he would go on as long as he could,” said Schmidt. “I think defensively he really shut down some opportunities they had. He won’t train this week and we will monitor him in the lead-up to the England game.”
