?Roscommon joint-manager Fergal O'Donnell has paid tribute to his players after they defeated Kerry in the Allianz Football League on Sunday.
Having lost to Monaghan in their Division 1 opener, few would have expected them to record a first ever league win in Kerry but they produced a spirited display at Fitzgerald Stadium, running out 0-14 to 0-10 winners.
O'Donnell was full of praise for his players, believing they deserved to take the victory.
“We’re going to struggle at this level, but just to pick up something here is amazing. We were unlucky last week so maybe we got a bit of luck this week,” O'Donnell said.
"The biggest thing is that we were competitive and got a bit of belief.
"We’ve put in a lot of work so we felt we had to get something in the first two games because we probably have a bit more work done fitness-wise than some of the other teams.
"For a team that is developing to beat Kerry… training is going to be a lot easier on Tuesday."
Kerry are without a win in two games after losing to Dublin last weekend, but Eamon Fitzmaurice is confident things will improve over the coming weeks.
"We don’t tend to do things the easy way (in the league). But we have been down this road before," he said.
"The first year, we lost four games and three games the second year.
"We know what we have to do. We have to get points on the board quickly and once we get a few wins, things will take off. We are not going to panic."
