O'Donovan quits Clare panel - reports

Domhnall O'Donovan is reported to have quit the Clare senior hurling panel.

O'Donovan scored the crucial point that secured an All-Ireland final replay against Cork in 2013 but he has struggled to secure a regular place in the starting line-up since.

He withdrew from the panel last October but the door was left open for him to return for the Allianz Hurling League. However, he has opted out of the squad for 2016, citing work commitments as his reason for stepping down.

It is understood, O'Donovan informed manager Davy Fitzgerald of his decision on Wednesday before breaking the news to the remainder of his team-mates.
