Michael O'Reilly has become the eighth Irish boxer to qualify for the Rio Olympics.
O'Reilly secured his place on the plane to Brazil after defeating Azerbaijan’s Shinebayor Narmandakh in the quarter-finals of the World Olympic qualifiers in Baku.
The Irish boxer won the first two rounds with relative ease and, while he lost the final round, he had done enough to convince the judges and was the unanimous winner.
With a bronze medal guaranteed, he will return to the ring tomorrow to bid for his place in the final.
O'Reilly's success means he joins Paddy Barnes, Brendan Irvine, Michael Conlan, David Oliver Joyce, Steven Donnelly, Joe Ward and Katie Taylor on the plane to Brazil.
