O'Sullivan likely to play on

Kerry forward Darran O'Sullivan says he will play another Championship summer if manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice wants him to.

The Glenbeigh clubman, 31, has been playing inter-county football since 2005, but the four-time Sam Maguire winner doesn't want his championship career to end on the low point of an All-Ireland semi-final black card against Mayo.

O'Sullivan played just nine minutes of the 2-16 to 0-17 All-Ireland semi-final replay defeat before getting his marching orders for a clash off the ball with Cillian O'Connor.

"Coming on in the semi-final, when it was only really the week or two before that I was playing well, and I felt like I was back to myself, to have that kind of taken away...you don't just let it go," he said.

"If Eamonn and the management want me back, I'll probably come back but they might want to go down a different direction, bring in young lads and so on.

"So we'll see how it goes."

O'Sullivan is still unhappy with the failure of referee David Gough, who showed three red and two black cards during the game, and linesman Anthony Nolan to tell him the rationale behind the black card.

"It was a joke. I asked the ref and he wouldn’t answer me," he continued.

“The linesman who called it wouldn’t answer me. I ended up getting a suspension on top of it.

“You have a referee, two linesmen and four umpires and you have a fourth official — yet I feel they are getting decisions like that wrong and I get a suspension for questioning it?"
