Clare coach Donal Og Cusack says Tipperary's "machine is starting to build again" ahead of Saturday's All-Ireland SHC quarter-final at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.
Liam MacCarthy Cup holders Tipp haven't managed to defend an All-Ireland title since 1965, and have struggled this season, losing heavily to Galway in April's league final and going down to a 2-27 to 1-26 defeat to Cork in the Munster quarter-final in May.
They also laboured to a 2-18 to 0-15 victory over Westmeath in the first round of qualifiers, before finally hitting top form in the second round qualifier against Dublin.
Seamus Callanan hit 3-11, as Tipp beat the Dubs 6-26 to 1-19 at Semple Stadium to set up Saturday's quarter-final against the Banner in Cork.
"They started off the year and the word coming out was that they were so determined to win two-in-a-row, then the Cork game was a shock to their system obviously," he said.
"It looks now as if their machine is starting to build again, they beat Dublin well. Dublin are not at the very top table of hurling but are still a top team and for any team to do what they did to Dublin was a serious statement."
