Ozil and Ramsey both fit to face Chelsea

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says midfield pair Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey should be "OK" to face Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday.

German World Cup winner Ozil has been carrying an ankle injury, while Wales international Ramsey has a muscle problem, but both attended training on Thursday and Wenger says both are in contention to play in Sunday's FA Community Shield between the FA Cup holders and the Premier League champions.

"We have basically have everyone available to choose from on Sunday," Wenger said in his pre-match press conference.

"We did not have Ozil in full training but he should be OK.

"Ramsey should be OK as well."

Alexis Sanchez also took part in Thursday's open training session at the Emirates Stadium after illness, and a leave of absence following Chile's Confederations Cup campaign.

Sanchez scored the opening goal of a training game, played in front of 500 supporters as part of the club's Members' Day. with a diving header from an Alexandre Lacazette cross.

Wenger is likely to select the Chile forward for Arsenal's Premier League opener against Leicester City on 11 August, but may rest him and Germany defender Shkodran Mustafi for Sunday's season curtain-raiser.

Both featured for their countries in the Confederations Cup final on 2 July, with Germany running out 1-0 at the Krestovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

"Sanchez and Mustafi are just coming back," he said.

"I haven't decided yet whether they will play or not."

FA Cup holders Arsenal take on Premier League champions Chelsea in the FA Community Shield on Sunday, 6 August. The game will be shown live on BT Sport 1 [kick off 2pm Irish time], which can be accessed on the eir sport package in Ireland.
