Mesut Ozil wants to know what the future holds for manager Arsene Wenger before signing a new deal with Arsenal.
Ozil has 18 months left to run on his current contract at the Emirates and has yet to agree fresh terms with the club, prompting speculation that the Germany international could look to leave Arsenal.
Wenger's own deal is due to expire at the end of the current season and Ozil admits his future could depend on whether or not the Frenchman extends his 20-year tenure.
"I feel very, very good with Arsenal and have shown my willingness to extend my contract with the club," Ozil told German magazine Kicker.
"The fans want me to stay. Now it's down to the club. The club know that I'm here above all because of Arsene Wenger, who brought me here and whose trust in me I enjoy.
"The club also know that I want to have clarity about what the manager is doing."
It has been reported that Ozil and Alexis Sanchez want parity with the Premier League's top earners before agreeing a new deal.
Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has suggested the pair are 'holding the club to ransom' but Ozil has downplayed the comments.
"Everyone has the right to say their views," he said.
"But these comments don't interest me. Such former players or other people who weigh in with their opinions don't know what's actually being said between the club and me."
