Pardew: Palace in a false position
Alan Pardew believes Crystal Palace are in a 'false position' in the Premier League are are not in a relegation battle.
Four successive losses have seen Palace drop to 16th in the Premier League table and they face a tough return to action when they host Manchester City on Saturday.
Having failed to win a game since September, the Eagles sit just one point clear of the relegation zone but Pardew insists they can climb the table with just two wins.
"I'm not even thinking we're in a relegation battle at all, if I'm honest. We have to get some results in the next few weeks," Pardew told reporters ahead of Saturday's visit of Manchester City.
"Back-to-back wins will take you into mid-table. A long way to go yet. It's about getting the balance in the style of play.
"I look at the group and there are fantastic players in our team. We're in a false position when I look at the league table, but we have to put that right."
The Eagles have conceded ten goals in the last three matches and Pardew is looking for an improved defensive performance on Saturday.
"Concentration let us down against Burnley for at least two of the goals. That's unusual for us. I'll need to keep an eye on that," said Pardew.
"City can swiftly embarrass you, so we'll have to be cautious, but we won't change the style too much.
"It's about concentration. We didn't start well versus Liverpool, sat off them and paid the price. We need to be brave versus City. We've gifted a few goals lately, but the harder thing to do in the Premier League is scoring goals. We're OK at that, so now we can tighten up."
